What a smart lock can do for your entrance
Most people come to us for one of three reasons: they're tired of copying and chasing keys, they want to let someone in while they're away, or they want to know who used the door and when.
- Keypad entry with individual codes for family, guests, and service providers
- Scheduled or temporary access that expires on its own
- Remote lock and unlock from an app, on models that support it
- Activity history showing which code or phone opened the door
- Auto-lock after a set time, so a door left unlocked doesn't stay that way
Keypad, app-enabled, or both
A keypad-only lock works without Wi-Fi or an app and is simple for everyone in the house. App-enabled locks add remote control and alerts, usually through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or a small bridge. Many locks combine both. We'll explain the trade-offs for your situation, including batteries, backup keys, and what happens if the internet goes down.
Doors we see most often in Miami
South Florida doors are not all standard. Impact-rated entry doors, multipoint locking systems, French doors, and older mortise hardware are common here, and each affects which smart lock — if any — is a good fit. Some doors need a specific product line or a different approach altogether. We'll tell you plainly when a door isn't a good candidate.
Property types we work with
Single-family homes
Front, side, and garage-entry doors, often paired with a video doorbell.
Condo units
Unit doors where association rules and fire-door requirements must be respected.
Short-term and seasonal homes
Remote code management for guests, cleaners, and property checks.
Small offices and studios
A single keyless door for staff without a full access control system.

Compatibility considerations
Not every product fits every door or property. These are the things we check first:
- Standard single-cylinder deadbolts are usually the simplest upgrade.
- Multipoint and many impact-rated doors need compatible hardware or may not be suitable.
- Condo unit doors may be fire-rated and subject to association approval.
- App features depend on a reliable signal at the door.
Common questions
- What happens if the battery dies?
- Most smart locks warn you well before batteries run out, through the app or an indicator on the lock. Many models also have a backup key or external power contacts. We'll show you the backup method for your specific lock.
- Can I keep my existing handle?
- Sometimes. Many smart deadbolts replace only the deadbolt and leave your handle in place. Other designs replace the full handle set. It depends on the lock and your door.
- Do smart locks need Wi-Fi?
- Keypad functions don't. Remote access and notifications usually need Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth connection, or a bridge, depending on the model.
