Every door is different, but a typical smart lock installation covers:
- Checking bore size, backset, door thickness, and strike alignment
- Adjusting the strike or door so the bolt throws smoothly without force
- Mounting and securing the interior and exterior assemblies
- Programming user codes and admin settings
- Connecting the app, bridge, or Wi-Fi module where applicable
- A walkthrough of codes, auto-lock, and the backup entry method
Why alignment matters so much
A motorized bolt has far less force than a hand turning a key. If the bolt drags against the strike, the lock may stall, report errors, or burn through batteries. Humidity and door movement are part of life in Miami, so we check how the door closes, not just whether the lock fits the hole.
Replacing an existing smart lock
We also replace smart locks that have become unreliable or that no longer suit the household. If you already bought a lock, send us the model and door photos and we'll tell you honestly whether it's a good match for the door.

- Can you install a lock I already bought?
- Often, yes. Send the model and door photos first so we can confirm it's a reasonable fit before scheduling.
- How long does installation take?
- It depends on the door and the lock. A straightforward deadbolt replacement is much quicker than a door that needs adjustment. We'll give you an expectation once we've seen the door.
