Battery, charging, and connectivity
Arlo offers rechargeable battery cameras and powered options, with charging and solar accessories for selected models. Supported Wi-Fi bands and direct-to-router or SmartHub connections vary by camera generation. We check your exact model, signal through South Florida block walls, and any existing hub before installation. Battery maintenance depends on activity, settings, and the installation environment.
Cloud recording and local storage
For current Arlo cameras, cloud video history and some advanced detection features require an Arlo Secure subscription. Basic live view and notifications can be available without a paid plan. Compatible SmartHub or base-station setups offer local recording to USB or microSD storage, depending on the hub. Local storage and playback do not behave exactly like cloud history, and not every camera supports every hub; we review the combination and current plan terms with you.
Setup in your Arlo Secure account
We mount and connect each camera, configure supported motion settings and notifications, and set up recording based on the hardware and plan you choose. We help you grant appropriate household access, test live view and playback, and walk through charging, alerts, and finding clips. You retain ownership of the account and decide whether to purchase a subscription.

- Do I need Arlo Secure?
- A paid plan is needed for cloud recording on current cameras and some advanced features. Basic live view and notifications can work without a subscription. We confirm the features for your model and account.
- Can Arlo record locally?
- Compatible cameras paired with a supported SmartHub or base station can record to local storage. USB versus microSD storage and access to clips depend on the hub. Not all cameras support this setup.
- Can my camera connect directly to Wi-Fi?
- Some Arlo cameras can; others require a compatible hub. Camera generation and supported network bands matter, so we check the model rather than assuming.
- Will a solar panel eliminate charging?
- A compatible panel may reduce manual charging, but performance depends on sun exposure, weather, and camera activity. We plan for maintenance rather than promise a maintenance-free camera.
- Can you reuse my existing Arlo equipment?
